My name is Laura Johnston. My hiker friends call me, “Hey Girl,” a trail name given to me by fellow hikers on the Appalachian Trail (AT) because of my friendly way of saying “hi,” to fellow ladies on trail. I’m an east coast native from the Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C.
I’m a conservation, outdoor and creative professional, a traveler, a people person and outdoor enthusiast.
In 2016 I thru-hiked the AT from Georgia to Maine (2,189.1 miles) and in 2017 I thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) from Mexico to Canada (2,650 miles). This site is place to share my creative projects (writing, podcast, photos) and connect with you!
Send me a note to collaborate or to say, “Hey Girl.” I would love to hear from you!
